10.7.4. Sensors of a control system of the engine

Sensors of temperature of cooling liquid and air temperature in the inlet pipeline of 19.3828 type represent a thermistor (the resistor which resistance changes depending on temperature). The sensor is screwed in the case of the thermostat and connected to the controller entrance connected to an internal source of 5 V via the resistor 2 kOhm. At a low temperature sensor resistance high, at high temperature — low.
The controller counts temperature of cooling liquid on power failure on the sensor. On the cold engine power failure high, on warmed up — low. Temperature of cooling liquid influences the majority of characteristics which are operated by the controller.
For replacement of sensors of temperature of cooling liquid and air temperature in the inlet pipeline you will need a key "on 19".
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Partially merge cooling liquid from a radiator.
3. Disconnect a block of a plait of wires from the sensor socket, having unfastened the spring lock.
4. Turn out the sensor from the thermostat case.
5. Similarly remove the air temperature sensor in the inlet pipeline.

For check of sensors it is necessary to collect the scheme represented in fig. 10.8. With a resistance of 1 on the milliamperemeter 4 establish current in a chain 1–1,5 мА. At a temperature of +25 °C the voltmeter 3 has to show tension of 2,957-3,022 Century.
Changing the surrounding temperature of the sensor, measure value of power failure by the voltmeter 3. At the serviceable sensor it has to keep within the following limits: at a temperature of +40 °C – 2,287-2,392 B; at a temperature of +90 °C – 3,642–3,737 Century. Replace the faulty sensor.

Good advice
For change of temperature of the sensor it is possible to use the container with water. Measure sensor resistance at various values of water temperature.

6. Install sensors in the sequence, the return to removal. At installation of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid grease its carving with sealant.

The sensor of provision of a bent shaft (synchronization) of the DG-6 0261210113 type of Bosch or 23.3847 inductive types is intended for definition of angular provision of a bent shaft of the engine, synchronization of operation of the controller with working process of the engine and determination of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft.

Structurally the sensor (fig. 10.9) represents a rod magnet 3 on which the winding 1 is established. When passing teeths of a disk of synchronization 8 by a magnet end face on conclusions of a winding there is a potential which is for the controller information on the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft. Two teeth on a disk are absent, and when passing a hollow on a disk by a magnet the impulse by which the controller determines that the piston of the 1st cylinder is in VMT is formed.
At failure of the sensor of synchronization or its chains work of system of ignition and, therefore, the engine stops. Previously the sensor can be checked directly on the engine. For final check the sensor needs to be removed from the engine.
It will be required to you: the thin screw-driver, a key "on 10", an autotester.
1. Switch off ignition and remove the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Press a spring clip of a block and separate the synchronization sensor socket.
3. Connect one probe of the tester included in the ohmmeter mode to the central conclusion of a block of a plait of wires of the sensor, and the second probe — to any side conclusion. Resistance of a winding of the sensor has to be 700–900 Ohms.
4. For final check remove the sensor for what unbend collars of fastening of a plait of wires of the sensor to an inlet pipe and the block of cylinders, stretch a plait down …
5.... turn out a bolt of fastening and take out the sensor from an opening in the block of cylinders of the engine.
6. Attach the tester included in the voltage measurement mode to sensor conclusions.
7. Quickly bring to the sensor core a metal subject (for example, tweezers). If the sensor is serviceable, on the device there will be a power surge. If tension does not change, the sensor is faulty and it needs to be replaced.
8. Install the sensor in the sequence, the return to removal.
9. After installation of the sensor check a gap between its core and teeths of a disk of synchronization. It has to be 1–1,5 mm.

The sensor of position of the camshaft (the phase sensor) of the PG-3.1 0232103006 Bosch type, either 406.3847050-04, or 406.3847050-05, or is installed to DF-1 which action is based on Hall's effect in the left back part of a head of the block of cylinders.
According to this sensor the controller defines the moment of installation of the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT for calculation of the sequence of injection of fuel according to an operating procedure of cylinders.
At failure of the sensor of a phase the controller includes an alarm lamp in the block of lamps and switches over from the mode of the phased injection to standby mode fuel supply at the same time in all cylinders. On this mode fuel consumption therefore the faulty sensor of a phase needs to be replaced as soon as possible considerably increases.
It will be required to you: the thin screw-driver or a pricker, a key "on 10".
1. Switch off ignition and remove the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Having unfastened the spring lock, separate blocks of a plait of wires of the sensor of a phase.
3. Remove a block of a plait of wires of the sensor from the metal holder.
4. Turn out a bolt of fastening and take out the sensor from an opening in a head of the block of cylinders.

5. Collect the scheme for check (fig. 10.10) and connect wires to plugs of the rechargeable battery. At the same time the light-emitting diode 4 has to light up and at once go out.
6. Move tweezers or the screw-driver near a sensor core. If the sensor is serviceable, the light-emitting diode has to light up quickly. If the light-emitting diode does not burn, the sensor is faulty and it needs to be replaced.
7. Install the sensor in the sequence, the return to removal.

The sensor of a mass consumption of air of the HFM5-4.7 0280218037 type of Bosch, either 20.3855 Siemens, or 406.1130000-01 is located between a hose of the air filter and a hose of an inlet pipe.
The signal of the sensor represents tension of a direct current which value depends on quantity and the direction of the movement of the air passing through the sensor.
The air temperature sensor which sensitive element is the thermistor established in an air stream is built in the sensor of a mass consumption of air. At a low temperature sensor resistance high, at high temperature — low (tab. 10.6).
If the sensor of air temperature is faulty, then the controller brings an error code in memory and includes an alarm lamp, indications of the faulty sensor are replaced with the controller with the fixed value of the air temperature of 33 ° C.
For replacement of the sensor it will be required to you: a key "on 10", the screw-driver with a crosswise edge.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Having wrung out from below the screw-driver or a finger a plastic latch, disconnect a block of a plait of wires from the sensor of a mass consumption of air.
3. Weaken a fastening collar inhaling …
4. … remove hoses from the sensor and remove the sensor from the car.
5. Install the sensor upside-down. Pay attention to a condition of rubber laying as its damage can lead to interruptions in operation of the engine.

The sensor of provision of a butterfly valve of type 406.1130000-01 or DKG-1 0280122001 of production Bosch represents a potentiometer with the tokosjemny element moving on the radius of the conducting sector from 0 to 100o.
It will be required to you: autotester, screw-driver.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Disconnect a block of a plait of wires from the sensor …
3. … also measure resistance between conclusions "1" and "2" blocks of the sensor. The serviceable sensor it has to have about 2 kOhm. Connect an autotester to conclusions "2" and "3". At the open provision of a butterfly valve resistance has to be 0,7–1,38 kOhm, at closed – 2,6 kOhm.
4. For replacement of the faulty sensor of provision of a butterfly valve turn out two screws of its fastening …
5. … also remove the sensor.
6. Install the new sensor as it should be, the return to removal.

The detonation sensor 02612311046 productions Bosch, either GT 305, or 18.3855 is installed on the block of cylinders of the engine on the right side under the inlet pipeline around the 4th cylinder.

The detonation sensor (fig. 10.11) represents the piezoelectric device perceiving the vibrations of a wall of the block caused by shock waves at a detonation in cylinders. The detonation is an explosive spontaneous ignition of working mix in engine cylinders. At a detonation at the exit of the sensor tension impulses which increase with growth of intensity of detonation blows are generated. The controller on a signal of the sensor regulates an ignition advancing for elimination of detonation flashes of fuel. At failure of the sensor or its electric chains the control unit signals the driver inclusion of an alarm lamp and switches over to standby mode engine management with a late corner of an advancing of ignition. This mode is characterized by the lowered engine capacity and the increased fuel consumption therefore as soon as possible the sensor needs to be replaced. For check the sensor of a detonation needs to be removed from the car.
It will be required to you: the thin screw-driver or a pricker, a key "on 13".
1. Switch off ignition and remove the minus plug from the rechargeable battery.
2. Bring a heater hose out of the holder on a sensor bolt.
3. Disconnect the socket of a plait of wires from sensor conclusions, having unfastened the spring lock of a block.
4. Turn off a nut, remove a heater hose arm from the hairpin screwed in a wall of a head of the block of cylinders and remove the sensor from a hairpin.
5. Attach the autotester included in the voltage measurement mode to sensor conclusions. Tap on the sensor case with a firm subject (for example, tweezers) – tension has to change. If tension remains to constants, the sensor is faulty and it needs to be replaced.
6. Install the sensor in the sequence, the return to removal.

The sensor of concentration of oxygen of type 5WK9-1000G of Siemens is used in system of injection of fuel with feedback and is installed in a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases. For a correcting of calculations of duration of impulses of injection information on availability of oxygen in the fulfilled gases is used, this information is issued by the sensor of concentration of oxygen. The oxygen which is contained in the fulfilled gases contacts to the sensor of concentration of oxygen, creating potential difference at the sensor exit. It changes approximately from 0,1 B (high content of oxygen — poor mix) to 0,9 B (not enough oxygen — rich mix).
For normal work temperature of the sensor has to be not below 300 °C therefore for bystry warming up after launch of the engine the heating element is built in the sensor.
Tracing the output tension of the sensor of concentration of oxygen, the controller defines what team on a correcting of composition of working mix to give on nozzles. If mix poor (low potential difference at the sensor exit), then the controller gives the command for mix enrichment; if mix rich (high potential difference) – on mix impoverishment.
For replacement of the operating sensor of concentration of oxygen you will need a key "on 22".
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Separate a block of the sensor and a plait of wires, having wrung out a plastic latch.
3. Turn out the sensor from a reception pipe …
4. … also remove the sensor from the car.
5. Install the sensor as it should be, the return to removal.
