4.3.15. Check of degree of wear of brake shoes

It will be required to you: caliper or ruler.
1. Install the car on the elevator or supports.
2. Remove a wheel.
3. Check a condition of blocks. If their thickness less than 1,5-2,0 mm, replace blocks.
4. In the presence on a working surface of a disk of zadir, deep рисок and other defects increasing wear of blocks and reducing efficiency of braking and also in case of the raised side beating of the disk causing vibrations when braking, replace a disk. In specialized workshops such disk can be pierced and proshlifovat on both sides on identical depth, but after processing thickness of a disk has to be not less minimum admissible. Minimum admissible thickness of a brake disk is 20,4 mm. If thickness of one of disks is less than specified, replace both disks (see. "Replacement of a brake disk"). When replacing brake disks surely replace brake shoes with a new set.
5. Remove a back wheel, remove the brake drum and check a condition of back brake shoes. If thickness of glued slips less than 1,5 mm and if on riveted blocks of a rivet drown less than on 0,5 mm, replace blocks.
6. In the presence on the working surface of the brake drum of zadir, deep рисок and other defects increasing wear of blocks and reducing efficiency of braking and also in case of the raised side beating of the disk causing vibrations when braking, replace a drum. In specialized workshops brake drums can be chiseled, but after processing the maximum diameter of a drum has to be no more than the most admissible.
The most admissible diameter of a brake disk is 281 mm. If thickness of one of disks is less than specified, replace both disks (see. "Replacement of the brake drum"). When replacing brake disks surely replace also brake shoes with a new set.
