4.4.11. Replacement of brake fluid

Replace brake fluid in a hydraulic actuator of brakes through each 30 000 km of a run or 2 years of operation (depending on what will come earlier).
For gas station of system use brake fluids with parameters not below DOT-4.
Before replacement of brake fluid check tightness of a hydraulic actuator (see. "Check of tightness of a hydraulic actuator") also eliminate malfunctions.
It will be required to you: keys "on 8", "on 10", brake fluid, a rubber or transparent hose, a transparent vessel.

Valves for production of air are executed from a hydraulic actuator of brakes turnkey "on 11".

Replacement of brake fluid is recommended to be made with the assistant, previously having installed the car on a viewing ditch, a platform or the elevator (wheels are not required to be removed). Apply only those brake fluids which are recommended by manufacturer.

Do not reuse the liquid merged from system: it is polluted, saturated air and moisture. Always add only new liquid of that brand in system that it was filled in before.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from air) therefore it cannot be stored in an open container.
Protect the nature! Do not merge the used brake fluid to the soil or sewer system. In your area it is possible to learn about an arrangement of collection points for the fulfilled operational liquids in local authorities.

1. Check the level of brake fluid in a tank. It has to be between the tags of "MIN" and "MAX" applied on the tank case.
2. If the level of liquid is lower than a tag of "MIN", turn off a cover of a tank and add brake fluid to a tag of "MAX".

Good advice
At a dolivka of brake fluid in a tank of the main brake cylinder use the funnel, for example, made of a plastic bottle not to spill liquid on the painted body surfaces on which it leaves hard-to-remove marks.

Slow down the car the parking brake and establish an antiretractable emphasis ("boots") under back wheels.

3. Clear valves of production of air of dirt and remove protective caps of valves of wheel cylinders of lobbies …
4. … and back brake mechanisms …
5. … and also pressure regulator.
6. Put on a rubber hose the valve of production of air of the right back brake mechanism and ship the end of a hose in a pure transparent vessel.

Delete air from a hydraulic system of the drive of brakes only at the engine working at the idling mode.

7. The assistant has to press sharply a brake pedal four-five times (with an interval between pressing 1–2 c) then to hold a pedal of pressed.
8. Unscrew the valve of production of air on 1/2–3/4 turns — old (dirty) brake fluid will begin to follow from a hose. The brake pedal has to move smoothly against the stop at this time. As soon as liquid ceases to follow, wrap the valve of production of air.
9. Similarly pump over the left back brake mechanism.

Constantly you watch liquid level in a tank, without allowing its decrease to the lower tag on a tank wall. If necessary add new brake fluid not to allow hit of air in a hydraulic actuator. Thus gradual replacement of old liquid of a hydraulic system, new without drainage, is provided.

10. Replace with the same way brake fluid and in a forward contour of the regulator of pressure …
11. … and then in the right and left forward brake mechanisms.
12. After replacement of brake fluid surely put on protective caps valves of production of air.
13. Add brake fluid — its level has to be between tags of "MIN" and "MAX" on a tank wall. Establish a tank stopper.
14. Check quality of the performed work: press several times a brake pedal — the course of a pedal and effort on it have to be identical by each pressing. If it not so, return to performance of operations 6-11.
15. Establish details as it should be, the return to removal.
