Install four-cylinder, four-cycle engines with the top arrangement of valves on cars, with liquid cooling. Depending on alternative execution the UAZ Hunter cars equip with petrol UMZ-4218 engines (carburetor) or ZMZ-409 (with system of the distributed injection of fuel and microprocessor system of ignition). The ZMZ-409 engine is shown in fig. 5.1, 5.2 and 5.4. Now cars with carburetor engines do not release.

Besides, the UAZ Hunter cars equip with diesel engines. Till 2006 installed the diesel Andoria 4CT90 engine which was replaced with the domestic diesel subsequently. Engines establish is longitudinal.
In this edition repair of the ZMZ-409 engine is described, and also features of a design of the diesel ZMZ-5143 engine are given.
The block of cylinders is cast from gray cast iron. Between cylinders there are channels for cooling liquid. Cylinders are chiseled directly in a block body. On the block of cylinders special inflows, flanges and openings for fastening of details, knots and units, and also channels of the trunk oil main are executed. In the lower part of the block of cylinders five support of radical bearings of a bent shaft with removable covers which fasten to the block bolts are located. Covers of radical bearings of engines are processed assembled with the block and not interchanged. The cover of the third bearing assembled with the block of cylinders is processed on end faces for installation of two persistent steel-aluminum half rings limiting axial movement of a bent shaft. Are attached by bolts to end faces of the block of cylinders a cover of a chain and a salnikoderzhatel with cuffs of a bent shaft. From below the oil case is attached to the block of cylinders.

it is cast from aluminum alloy. In it it is installed on two inlet and on two final valves on each cylinder. The drive of valves is carried out by two camshafts through hydropushers. Application of hydropushers excludes need of adjustment of gaps for the drive of valves as hydropushers automatically compensate a gap between cams of camshafts and cores of valves. In a head of the block of cylinders with a big tightness saddles and the directing plugs of valves are established. In the lower part of a head of the block combustion chambers are executed, in top — support of camshafts are located. On support aluminum covers are established. A forward cover — the general for support of inlet and final camshafts. In this cover plastic persistent flanges which enter pro-points on necks of camshafts are established. Covers process assembled with a block head therefore they cannot be interchanged the position. On all covers, except a lobby, serial numbers are beaten out. The scheme of installation of covers is shown in fig. 5.3.
Camshafts are cast from cast iron. Profiles of cams of inlet and final shaft identical. Cams are displaced on 1,0 mm concerning an axis of hydropushers that during the operation of the engine forces hydropushers to rotate. It reduces wear of a surface of a hydropusher and does it uniform. From above the head of the block of cylinders is closed by the cover cast from aluminum alloy.
Pistons are also cast from aluminum alloy. On the bottom of the piston four deepenings under valves which prevent blows of the piston to valves at violation of phases of gas distribution are executed. For the correct installation of the piston in the cylinder on a sidewall at a lug under a piston finger the inscription "BEFORE" is cast. The piston is installed in the cylinder so that this inscription was turned to a forward part of the engine. On each piston three rings are established: two compression and one oil scraper. Compression rings are cast from cast iron. The barrel-shaped working surface of the top ring is covered with a layer of porous chrome that improves to ring extra earnings. The working surface of the lower ring is covered with a tin layer. On an internal surface of the lower ring there is a pro-point. The ring needs to be installed on the piston by this pro-point up, to the piston bottom. The oil scraper ring consists of three elements: two steel disks and dilator. The piston is attached to a rod by means of a piston finger of floating type, i.e. the finger is not fixed not movably neither in the piston, nor in a rod. In the axial direction the finger refrains from movement by two spring lock rings which are established in flutes of lugs of pistons.
Rods steel, shod, with a double-T section core. In the top head of a rod the bronze plug is pressed. The lower head of a rod is supplied with the cover attached by two bolts. Nuts of conrod bolts have the self-stopped carving therefore in addition are not stopped. Covers of rods process assembled with a rod therefore they cannot be rearranged from one rod on another. On rods and their covers numbers of the corresponding cylinders are beaten out. For cooling of the bottom of the piston with oil in a core of a rod and the top head openings are executed. In the lower head of a rod establish thin-walled inserts.
The bent shaft is cast from high-strength cast iron. The shaft has eight counterbalances. From axial movement he is kept by the persistent half rings established on an average neck. The flywheel is attached to the back end of a bent shaft. The expansion plug and the bearing of a sock of a main shaft of the transmission are inserted into an opening of a flywheel. The pulley of the water pump is given to rotation together with a generator pulley a poliklinovy belt (GPK 1220) from a pulley of a bent shaft. The tension of a belt is regulated change of provision of a tension roller. The same belt (but a little bigger length) gives to rotation pulleys of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering and the fan.
