5.16.4. Troubleshooting and repair of the block of cylinders

For definition of technical condition and repair of the block of cylinders remove the engine from the car (see. "Removal and installation of the engine") also sort it. Remove a head of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a head of the block of cylinders"), a bent shaft (see. "Removal, repair and installation of a bent shaft"), conrod and piston group (see. "Removal, repair and installation of conrod and piston group"), an oil case and the oil pump (see. "Removal, repair and installation of the oil pump"), and also all hinged equipment.
1. Examine the block of cylinders. If cracks are found, replace it.
2. Check tightness of a shirt of cooling of the block with way of pressure testing. For this purpose muffle wooden traffic jams all openings in the block, except one to which bring a hose of supply of compressed air. Lower the block in a bathtub with water and give compressed air under pressure of 1,5 atm. The damaged places will leave air bubbles. At violation of tightness replace the block.
3. Similarly check tightness of oil channels of the block.
4. Examine cylinders. If on a mirror of cylinders there are teases and other defects, chisel cylinders under the repair size and an otkhoninguyta. Two repair sizes of cylinders are provided. In spare parts deliver pistons and piston rings of the corresponding repair sizes.

Note
Under the repair size it is necessary to chisel all cylinders even if defects are found only in one of them.

5. Check gaps between cylinders and pistons. The nominal gap is equal to 0,024-0,048 mm, maximum permissible – 0,25 mm. Cylinders and pistons are broken on diameter into five dimensional groups: And, B, In, D. Bukva designating group of the cylinder is applied with paint on the left outer side of the block opposite to each cylinder. The gap can be determined by measurement of diameters of the piston and cylinder. Diameter of the piston is measured in the plane, a perpendicular axis of a piston finger, is 8,0 mm lower than this axis. Diameter of the cylinder is measured not less than in three belts within 15–100 mm from the top plane of the block in two perpendicular directions.
