7.2.2. Adjustment of a gap in bearings of naves of back wheels

Periodically check and if necessary adjust bearings of naves of wheels. At too big side play in bearings during the movement there are blows destroying bearings, unevenly (spots) tires wear out, and at a strong inhaling bearings excessively heat up, lubricant follows from them, as a result bearings fails.
It will be required to you: a special tubular key "on 55", the screw-driver with a flat edge, the hammer, a drift.
1. Slow down the car, having established an emphasis under forward wheels. Lift and establish a back part of the car on support.
2. Remove a half shaft (see. "Removal and installation of a half shaft").
3. Through a drift the hammer unbend a petal of a key washer and turn off a nave lock-nut.
4. Having hooked the screw-driver, take a key washer.
5. Turn off an adjusting nut of hug bearings on 1–2 sides. Turning a wheel a hand, check ease of its rotation and tighten an adjusting nut of hug bearings the moment of 30-40 N · m (3–4 kgfs · м).
6. Establish a new key washer.
7. Wrap a lock-nut.
8. Check adjustment of wheel bearings, at the correct adjustment the wheel has to rotate freely, without jammings and a noticeable axial gap.
9. Bend petals of a key washer on the verge of a nut.

Note
When latching nuts of hug bearings bend petals of a key washer on the verge of both nuts.

10. Establish all removed details as it should be, the return to removal.
